On Wednesday, February 23, 2005 Colombian designer Silvia Tcherassi hosted a grand opening cocktail party in honor of her new Bridal Atelier.
Located on Ponce de Leon in Coral Gables, Tcherassi’s stark white design studio is complemented by vaulted ceilings, wood floors and oversized mirrors. This unique space offers clients ample room to view Tcherassi’s newest bridal designs.
Suzette Espinosa of Tara, Ink describes, “the intimate soiree featured serene sounds from a violin quartet, a stunning 4-layer wedding cake by We Take The Cake, sumptuous hors d’oeuvres from Mena catering, and floral arrangements by Pistils & Petals. Models, posed on pedestals and wading through the sea of guests, showcased the Silvia Tcherassi Spring 2005 bridal collection and prêt-à-porter collection.”
The designs were soft and romantic. Many of the pieces showcased hand stitching and appliqués. One gown consisted of several hand made flowers affixed to a soft white ivory silk A-line silhouette.
Another signature design consisted of cascading hand made florets, which extended from the outline of a dramatic open back A-line silk bodice to cover the textured silk tulle.
Onlooker Halland Chen comments, “Tcherassi has a unique look, almost a raw beauty. Her creations cater to the edgy consumer.”
