“Transporting the audience through a journey of dance is the goal of Ballet Gamonet,” said Artistic Director and Ballet Gamonet Founder Jimmy Gamonet de los Heros, and this transcendent experience demands the highest level of technical artistry from his dancers while accentuating their individual expression.
Beloved ballerina Iliana Lopez, who charmed audiences for seventeen years during her tenure at Miami City Ballet, is a member of the company and Ballet Mistress. The stellar coalition of dancers under her tutelage hails from far and wide - Venezuela, Argentina, Colombia, Germany, Japan, England, Cuba, and the United States. The entire team is enthusiastic about Miami’s bright future as a center of ballet.
Peruvian-born choreographer Jimmy Gamonet has assembled the program for Season 2 taking advantage of the range of artistry of the company, to include four world premieres and two Florida premieres, plus many favorite Gamonet repertory pieces: “Dream Voyage”, “Purple Bend II”, an exploration of a powerful friendship told through an unconventional pas de deux and the sexy “Contropical”.

Program 1: choreography by Jimmy Gamonet- world premiere: “DRONE ON THE OPEN FIFTH”, set to the music of Arvo Part. The title comes from a music composition device common in medieval organum and in sundry oriental music.
The program also includes Gamonet’s “Prokofiev Piano Concerto”, a visualization of the Intermezzo from the Second Concerto, and “Nous Sommes”, a sensuous pas de deux for a ballerina and her gentleman set to the langorous passages of the haunting "Songs of the Auvergne". The program is rounded out by the Florida premiere of Precision Ball Passing, by Charles Moulton.
