FLORIDA DANCE FESTIVAL
June 21 – July 1, 2006
The 28th annual Florida Dance Festival, a critically acclaimed ten-day celebration of dance with nearly a dozen public performances and events, and an intense series of master classes and workshops in ballet, modern dance, jazz, tap, African dance, hip hop, improvisation, composition, pilates and more.
Classes and workshops are held at New World School of the Arts in downtown Miami; performances are held at both New World School of the Arts and the Colony Theatre in Miami Beach.
The Florida Dance Festival was created to celebrate Florida\'s artistically and culturally diverse dance artists, and to present the work of national and international dance artists and companies to Florida audiences.
The Festival is produced by Florida Dance Association, a nonprofit service organization and dance presenter providing leadership, information and services to dance artists, organizations and audiences throughout Florida since 1972.
New World School of the Arts Dance Division is the Festival=s host institution.
Performances and events draw a broad cross-section of adults, teens and children of many cultural backgrounds from throughout Miami-Dade County and surrounding areas. Education programs draw dance students, professionals and enthusiasts age 12 through adult from across Florida, the U.S. and internationally.
